Nope. It's a wasp. Family Mutilidae.
Everyone knows fire ants! S. Invicta! RIFA! The more invasive the better.

Nah, I'm just joking. My favorite species would likely be bull dog ants. However the best I have kept is C. noveboracensis.
Do Argentine ants make the list of "the more invasive the better?" "Argentines Vs. Fire Ants" -a heated video of like 2 clips of argentines doing their thing, and the rest of it dedicated to the beloved fire ants.
Anyway, the ants I want to keep the most are Prenolepis imparis. I'd love to give a go at an advanced parasitic species, such as Lasius claviger (which is next to impossible it seems), but one can only dream.

I have 2 Lasius Claviger group parasites, but what is sad is that I don't have a single Lasius colony, I am a beginner so even if I did have one the queens would probably die.
I love Myrmecia Nigriceps because of their size and that Myrmecia use vision predominantly and not scent and their coloring is amazing!

I'm here to learn, mostly.

It is literally a solitary wasp without wings. Look at the antennae, the jaws, and the abdomen. Also note that this species has no extra castes, only sexual dimorphism.
It is not part of the ant genera. They only share the same order (Hymenoptera, along with bees, wasps, and sawflies).

Because some ignorant people saw it and called it an ant.

Lasius claviger is notorious for randomly dying (or at least I think so after some research). That's what happened to the one I caught.
Lasius umbratus seems to be a good beginner for raising social parasites, although I've had no luck with parasites..yet.
Coolest ant, that's a hard one. Personally I think any ant that has mastered their environment but only that environment as opposed to generalists pretty cool. The more ingenious of a way the cooler. Ants like Polyrhachis sokolova (Ant builds nest underwater), Allomerus spp. (builds a fungal matrix and uses ut to ambush prey),Thaumatomyrmex (specialized jaws to destroy spines of certain millipedes), Megalomyrmex symmetochus (Function like mercenaries for Sericomyrmex) and Melissotarsus spp. (Entire colonies live off of scale insects which they raise and eat).
Melissotarsus are fat a funny looking

Carebara is like Pheidole on steroids. I mean, if we were Carebara minors, the majors would be blue whales xD
