What are the laws regarding moving ants across state lines when they are native to that location?

Doesn't matter whether they are native to the location they're being moved to.  All that matters is that an ant is crossing the state line.

Doesn't matter whether they are native to the location they're being moved to.  All that matters is that an ant is crossing the state line.

 

Just visualized a bunch of ants in single file marching across the state border.

Actually most ants don't walk. They just land on (or crawl into) commercial transport vehicles, let those drive (or swim or fly) over a border and then jump off.

Ants LOVE commercial trading, some species are real globetrotters.

I don't see it as an issue with it, don't ask don't tell. State Border Patrol has bigger issues to attend to.

It's still illegal. They can still escape, and there's little beyond conventional methods that we can do to prevent that.

Didn't Drtrmiller state that right off the bat "Doesn't matter whether they are native to the location they're being moved to.  All that matters is that an ant is crossing the state line?" The law is set in stone and there is no legal way around it unless you get a permit otherwise don't even try.

Anybody telling you that moving ants across state borders without permission is ok or legal is not telling you the truth.

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

 

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

I don't see how or why it can be illegal if it's still in the same region of where the species live. Also, just because I was a serviceman doesn't mean I agree with all the laws that get put out there. There are plenty of retarded laws that exist and I feel this is one of them.
