Doesn't matter whether they are native to the location they're being moved to.  All that matters is that an ant is crossing the state line.

Just visualized a bunch of ants in single file marching across the state border.

Actually most ants don't walk. They just land on (or crawl into) commercial transport vehicles, let those drive (or swim or fly) over a border and then jump off.

Ants LOVE commercial trading, some species are real globetrotters.

We should respect all forms of consciousness. The body is just a vessel, a mere hull.

So, is this a illegal or okay opinion

Illegal, still.

Now I'm imagining a colony of ants which only move in wheelchairs and scooters.

I don't see it as an issue with it, don't ask don't tell. State Border Patrol has bigger issues to attend to.

While it may be true that they have "bigger issues," when is it okay to cause potential harm to native organisms through something as preventable as this?

But again, what if the ants you are bringing to the state are already native their, and you have no intention of selling or releasing them.

It's still illegal. They can still escape, and there's little beyond conventional methods that we can do to prevent that.

Didn't Drtrmiller state that right off the bat "Doesn't matter whether they are native to the location they're being moved to.  All that matters is that an ant is crossing the state line?" The law is set in stone and there is no legal way around it unless you get a permit otherwise don't even try.

It's just that I've heard different info from different people, not starting any debate. As far as I care, I got the info I needed.

Anybody telling you that moving ants across state borders without permission is ok or legal is not telling you the truth.

  • LC3 and Martialis like this

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

And what happens to those who speed? They get tickets. What happens to those who do so recklessly? Jail time.

Is that what servicemen are about? Breaking conservational law?

I don't see how or why it can be illegal if it's still in the same region of where the species live. Also, just because I was a serviceman doesn't mean I agree with all the laws that get put out there. There are plenty of retarded laws that exist and I feel this is one of them.
