I read different things, one says they have to go in hibernation, the other says it may not be necessary.

All my colonies have gone in hibernation, except my Messor's.

Having doubts about putting them in hibernation or not.

What is your opinion?

Biggest reason for me not to do is because there are no ants left to watch and keep an eye on (and as a beginner I want to watch them as much as possible: p)

you can as they come form a cold-winter bio but you don't need to if you don't want to, they will sum-times in the wild stay awake underground and eats seeds and fat reserves, but i would still give them seeds and insects if you are not and keep it around 50-60

If you have ordered your Messor from Anthouse room temperature in an unheated room is sufficient. I looked up the weather forecasts for that region and the temperatures are expected to drop to around 15°C at mid december (and aside from occasional spikes down to 10°C they won't go below that). At round early March they go up to 20°C again, that's the end of hibernation.

We should respect all forms of consciousness. The body is just a vessel, a mere hull.
