Leo has the coolest everything.
I'll bet I could "out do" him.

yeah you probably could
Wow, all this is very interesting. I think I'm going to get into keeping some bugs other than ants next year. I'm probably going to go with Mantids, Earwigs, and maybe Beetles. Has anyone ever kept a colony of Roly Polys btw?
I've kept both of the common "roly poly" species before. I even got lucky enough to find a rare color morph, but I could never get it to breed. The're fun little pets. Fair warning though, once they start to breed you'll quickly end up with a ton of them and they eat like there's no tomorrow.
I have a small collection of sowbug color variations (orange, yellow, pinkish-gray, pitch black, porcelain, white, and even purple (that one has an infection that gives them that purple colorp).

Nice, good to see some more beetle keepers out there. I myself am more interested in the so- called "horned beetles,"(not longhorn beetles) but rhinoceros and stag. I also, if given the opportunity, keep flower(cotinis nitida) and jewel scarab(pelidnota punctata) beetles as well.
I would love to keep some scarabs/flower beetles! I am also interested in dung beetles but have yet had time to do the requisite research on these creatures to be comfortable in giving them the ideal care, and how to find/capture larvae. So currently I only keep mealworms, buffalo beetles, a pair of Chrysolina hyperici that I am hoping will yield some offspring, and some acorn weevil larvae (Circulio sp..).
I just found two beautiful (female?) rove beetles outside. They are the "Devil's Coachhorse" beetles. They both have been massacring the little japanese beetle larvae that I keep on finding in my yard.
durham, where did you find those chrysolina (biome & plant/food)? I have been searching for one for a good couple months.

I found them on a roadside/marginal habitat on their host plant, a blooming St. John's wort (Hypercium perforatum). Those Devil's Coachhorse beetles are a wicked looking beetle! Looks like they are born fighters!
I'm trying to get my Zoophobas beetles to breed but no success so far. I saw them mating though.
They soon gonna get a bigger container, maybe that helps.
We should respect all forms of consciousness. The body is just a vessel, a mere hull.

I know, right? One of the roves raises her abdomen whenever I enter the room (imitating a scorpion, I think!), and the other just ducks under some coconut fiber.
