Hello!
I have just this end of summer caught 4 queens (lasius niger Queens) to try and raise a colony. 1 of the queens died in the first week but the rest 3 are still alive after 2 months and 10 days or so.
But here is my question. All the 3 queens do have eggs. 1 of the queens took the dead queens eggs for her self and started caring for them. (kinda early boost for the egg pile.)
am very worried something is going on or am doing wrong because its been like 2+ months and the eggs (or larvae not even sure which they are atm) don't develope further.
The piles have looked the same for like 1 month now and I heard normally you can have first workers early as 40+ days or so and l heard lasius niger doesnt need too long time to develope.
Am from FInland and we just had our first snow so I was wondering if I should just hibernate the queens and wait few months and see then again.
I have attached pictures from one of the queens egg pile.
I keep my queens in a test tube setup and temperature is average about +21'C
