I have been into solving rubiks cubes for over a year now and I can solve the 3x3 pretty fast (<25 secs, though I do have a gan speed cube) and I have been wondering if anybody on this forum is also into cubing. I can also solve the pyraminx in ~10 secs and the 2x2 ~10 secs and the megamix ~120 secs.

Personally no, not really, although I do enjoy a good 3x3 speed cube from time to time (I used to know how to solve one, haha) but my friend (who goes by Coffeblock) is VERY into cubing. He's done 2x2, 3x3 (record is something around 40 s), 5x5, 7x7, and whatever the pyramid one is. You can probably find him online, he has a website, but not about cubing haha.

I'm not talking about hardcore cubers but people who are just into solving a rubik's cube fast.

I’ve never solved one in my life. This is one of the things in the world that makes literally no sense to me.

Most people think that you have to solve it side by side, but you actually have to solve it layer by layer, at least in the LOL method (layer by layer). But in the CFOP method (cross, f2l (first two layers), oll (orientation of the last layer), pll (permutation of the last layer)), which is more advanced, you need to solve the cross of the white side and then solve the first two layers at the same time, then you have to solve the top face of the top side (in this case the yellow side) and then you finish the top layer. I hope this makes sense!

None at all. No offense.

I used to be, but I haven't really been solving for several years now so I'm probably pretty rusty.  Back when I was solving I think I was around 25-30 seconds?

Never liked pyraminx but I did megaminx and of course larger cubes up to 7x7.  Also, I use Roux.  Yes, even for 7x7!

I can solve the 4x4 now, but I don't know how to do roux, I only use CFOP and a little bit of LBL for when teaching friends. I tried to learn roux but could never get used to it.
