My mom said that I must release one of the 2 colonies which one???  :(

sp1:

Large, aggressive, not-sure-if-queen, more painful.

sp2:

smaller, less aggressive, 90%queen, more workers/brood

Release sp1, go with easier one first and gain more experience then try to collect some more...

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

I have observed a funny/interesting feeding habit:

1. find mealworm chunk

2. call for backup

3. put sand on it

4. even more sand

5. ummm more sand?

6. tries to remember what was burried

7. realizes it is food

8. spends next 15 mins un-burying

9. finally drags into nest

:D

That's what my old Technomyrmex colony used to do!

In a way, Technomyrmex kind of behaves like a primitive army ant, so the behavior relation is pretty ridiculous.

I came up with an explanation for the food thing:
I think they are trying to prevent the food from being found by other ants while the whole workforce arrives.

Nice, do they have ergatoid queens like normal army ants or just gamergates?

today I witnessed a worker laying an egg. so the egg laying is probably done by gamergates.

Feed them maybe isopods or centipedes, I heard that they hunt on them in the wild. Also try warming them, the colony looks rather small
