I bought 50 crickets at petvalu and decided to try to breed them. Just a basic setup assorted foods, water, egg laying bins, some hiding places, and a heat source. Lets see what happens.

Interesting, I want to breed crickets, but they are so loud.. My cockroaches are much more quiet.
I wonder if it would be possible to soundproof their container?

Yeah, crickets are too loud for me. I had them once and they made way too much noise. Now I feed my ants superworms and dubia roaches. Both are super easy to keep and are silent. The dubias breed fairly quickly though, and superworms are pretty cheap on https://www.rainbowmealworms.net/you can get 250 for $5. You can also buy 1000 adult crickets from them for $16 or 200 for $4.50. Breeding insects isn't worth it to me when they're so cheap online. They're overpriced in pet stores.

I'm going to create a thread for "feeding options" as I'd like to get something established... ..can't believe I'm agreeing to all that/this..
xZero has some sort of fruit fly set up. You two with your superworms and things. I get them from my neighbor but I don't always want to be "THAT GUY" so I figure I'll....have some of my own..

I threw what was left of my meal worms in a container with more oats and a potato. We will see what happens...

Or "that guy" who buys just one cricket from the pet store!?!?
Phff....buying one cricket? Yeah right. I ask the cutest girl in there if I could just have one. Its only a shame that they are in high school...

Illegal to keep any type of roach in Canada unfortunately . And they aren't that loud, puts me to sleep lol.

I seem to be in the minority in that I've always enjoyed their chirping. That said, they're absolute demons that jump and escape while managing to smell like death as soon as an hour after, well...death. Don't get me started on how easy it is for them to die, too. Tropical house crickets (which you appear to have) are better than regular ones, but roaches still one up them x100 times.
Roaches may be illegal in Canada, but I hear they're easily sourced and the law rarely enforced. I'm certainly not encouraging that you should break the law, though.
Thanks, I won't look into that

I'm having some trouble with mold in my nursery. Will the spingtails eat the cricket eggs?

Actually we have 4 species that are legal. I can try to get some for you if you want
