Hello,
Since I have been a newt/frog/lizard keeper for many years, I have been raising various pillbugs, sow bugs, springtails and fruit flies as live food items for those creatures. Generally, I feed Repashy "bug burger" and have used "cricket crystals" (for water) with great success for these as well as keeping alive and gut loading the occasional crickets and mealworms that I would purchase.
Can these food preparation products also be used for ants? Bug Burger can be made into a solid with the consistency of jello or as a slurry with the consistency of baby food and it considered a complete diet for various bugs.
Repashy also has a "grub pie" which is basically mashed black shoulder fly, to be a substitute food for insect eating lizards and frogs. Although my reptiles have not taken a liking to it, it is high in protein along with other trace elements and calcium.
Ants appear to eat just about anything, but is there any reason that these food items can not be fed to them?
Thank you
