So after a day of looking around for queen ants, I finally come home and go upstairs to my room to put the 1 queen I found in a test tube setup. Then, my 3 year old brother calls me from downstairs because he found an ant. So I go downstairs to humor him and it turns out that he found on of these queens. I take it and go back upstairs, then he calls again. Another queen. And then there were 2 more queens after that but one of them was injured beyond saving so I have 3 queens now.
If you look closely at one of the queens, then you'll see that she's holding a batch of eggs already. Only caught her about 3 days ago so its pretty good to see. I can't wait to see the nanitics in person. By the way, does anyone know how long it takes this species to go from egg to worker?
