oh cool thanks. I've seen those flying around here a couple of times. They are big as a hummingbird right?
This is cool, big caterpillars like this make a lot of frass. Good for Cyphomyrmex if you know what I mean.
Unfortunately, due to ant keeping, whenever I see larvae, all I can think of is "Ant food!" .
They sell some HUGE caterpillars at Prehistoric Pets as reptile food.
I swear I heard some caterpillars are poisonus. Even just touching them can jack you up, but I can't recall what type they were. Anyways, I would never feed my ants this just in case. I have plenty of other things they like to eat

I wouldn't thing there are any severely poisonous species like that here in California...
usually caterpillars with horns are dangerous
Sphingid larvae typically are not considered toxic unless they are feeding on toxic plants. I think that to say caterpillars with horns are dangerous is quite inaccurate, however spiny or hairy species often have spines which are problematic. Where is this specimen from??

Nice caterpillar. Caterpillars can become poisonous by eating some plants, like hornworms.
Species I keep:
1 Lasius cf. Neoniger 30 workers
1 Camponotus sp. 15 workers
20 Tetramorium SpE 30 workers
1 T. Sessile 200 workers
