I have 3 fire ants queens all fertile, right now they all have separate brood and are in separate test tubes, I kinda want the queens to join forces to make a mega colony. Their species is solenopsis invicta.

Founding (for myself):                                                                                       My Shop

Solenopsis invicta experiments...                                                                     California

                                                                                                                     Ants & Formicaria

Hmm, with Invicta they are generally monogyne. They would stay polygynous for a bit but after tge first workers eclose, only one will sirvive. You could try catching some polygynous queens like pheidole, tapinoma, and whatnot.

Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

Hmmm, I caught a P. Rugosus but only one so I guess if solenopsis invicta isn't polygynous I guess I am out for owning polygyne colonies this year....
