Nice! I like the music too.
Just a couple new pics. They piled the sand up into a corner and built a nest.
Really nice looking colony!
My Journals:
Last October as in 2014? Mine has I believe 2 or 3 workers and watching the brood develop is like watching paint dry!
Camponotus vicinus, Crematogaster 1, Crematogaster 2, Formica francoeuri, *, *, Myrmecocystus testaceus, Novomessor cockerelli, Pheidole hyatti, Pogonomyrmex californicus, Pogonomyrmex rugosus, Solenopsis invicta
They came from the same flight. Some end up more successful than others. That's the reason we collect so many of them. The problem is you have to take care of all those colonies in the mean time.

Wow interesting. I brushed it off to Pogonomyrmex developing slow but looks like I need to do better with regards to feeding. They already seem comfortable in a Talus, covered with a towel, I keep the humidity high and it's nearly always mid-80's with the heat lamp.

Yeah, I think it's mainly just the luck of the draw. There's only so much you can do. Things change sometimes though, unexpectedly.
