You only have one species of Camponotus on Hawai'i: Camponotus variegatus. Good luck.
If anyone offers you from the main 48 states, do not buy. It is illegal to import into Hawai'i without proper permits.
Make sure you put your location in your profile as per forum rules.

Yeah, I don’t believe Hawaii has a diverse native population (and never has).
"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version
Keeping:
Formica cf. pallidefulva, cf. incerta, cf. argentea
Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra
Myrmica sp.
Lasius neoniger, brevicornis

Hawai'i has no known native ants, so he doesn't have much of a choice when it comes to invasives or natives.
Let's not turn this into an argument about invasive species, just leave it at this unless you live in Hawai'i and are able to get them a queen.

We have about 40 species total here, 100% not willing to import from anywhere else. These islands have enough invasive species without me helping it along.

In that case, I would prefer Anoplolepis gracilipes over Camponotus.

May I ask why? I was attracted to the size of the Camponotus, even though it would be a long wait for the colony to get big.

I'm not sure about local laws I just know that here in the 48 you can transport ants anywhere in the same state.
