Maggots as viable ant food?

Has this ever been tried?. Maggots are obviously available from any local fishing shop as are casters. Are there any reasons why trying this would be a bad idea?.

I'm not sure about the maggots, but I know a lot of UK people use adult flies to feed their colonies.

Better wait until they become flies. My ant colonies did not like the maggots.
