Hi,

I have ants in my garage. It is currently 90% humidity and sometimes higher every day. I have been using baby powder which works fine. However, I am nervous when the time comes to reapply the barrier as this could make a mess. I have tried fluon but the humidity is too high. What other barriers should I use? Olive oil?

I recommend using a mesh-ventilated lid, with your preferred barrier optionally applied.

A larger, air-tight Tupperware container could also hold dessication packets to allow Fluon application, but you'd need to open it every couple days to let in fresh air. Such a container could possibly hold a smaller, all-in-one formicarium.

Also, keep an eye on temperatures and direct sunlight given the non-air-conditioned room.

So if I choose to go that route. Can I have my fluon barrier and my ant stuff and put the dessication packet on one side in the tub with a small air-tight Tupperware container with a hole at the top with a cotton-ball in it? So once a day I would open the lid to let fresh air through (Let's say at 6:00 in the morning every day) (time I wake up)? How long would I keep the lid open? Would that keep the fluon effective? Can you give me a daily routine to follow if I go with this set-up? Thanks.
