So I've noticed some Myrmecologists use 3D Printers to make formicariums, and some really neat ones too.

 

I have decided that I wish to use a 3D Printer, I don't have it yet, maybe in a few weeks or so. I plan on using my own ideas and research, I was impressed by Drew's prints because it allows the gases to escape from nests also very professional. To be honest I haven't got the slightest clue how to use a 3d printer but it looks rather simple.

 

My eyes are set on the Anet A8. I may also purchase a 3d scanner in the later future....just for fun haha.

 

Does anyone else use a 3d printer? 

 

What Printer do you use also what type of filament do you use?

That's one pricey kit you have there. It seems to do well with details.

Also getting a 3d printer, just waiting for it to be shipped. I will be using ABS filament.

The price definitely up there, but I would definitely recommend it for beginners. It is a very good price for what it offers too. I would recommend it especially for and keepers because it has a large printing bed that can print out large formicariums. Also it is a printer that can easily be modded. I've seen people attach different extruder heads so it could print with special filament such as wood. These were the reasons why I picked it, but the other one that you suggested didn't look to shabby either.

Which Printer did you order? I bet you're like a kid at christmas when it arrives.

I'm still shopping around and researching, price has gone up haha, the Prusa i3 MK6 seems to be the key for me, it to can be modified and prints wood, I'm not to concerned about the bed because I can create addons to the prints .
