I happen to be directly in the path of the eclipse and was wondering what effect it might have on ants. I've read a little about how it affects insects in general, but didn't find many specifics. I did read something about bees getting significantly more active. Given their relatedness and similar social structure, I wonder if ants might behave similarly.

It's going to mutate them into super horrors. Don't go outside during the eclipse or risk getting eaten.

What about the ones in my collection? Am I going to have to ask THA to rush order some really big mini-hearths for them all?

You can test what your ants will do, cover them completely up so no light gets into their container. Honestly, since they go about their world with smell more than sight, I don't think anything out of the abnormal will happen.
