Hi all,

I got this tank of an alate in the middle of Jun, at around 10 pm, together with three Crematogster queens.

It was in Dugopolje, Croatia.

I am not even sure it is an ant, the shape of the head and markings of the wings are putting me off.

The "queen" died a week later in her test tube, so the ID is a bit pointless at this point, I guess.

But, I would very much like to know which species was it, so I can pen it down into month/region nuptial flight calendar.

I cannot be sure, but I beleve the creature was approximately 15mm long.

I think I have some better photos on my other computer, but these smartphone snapshots will have to do for now.

Thanks!

If it is an ant, it's a male. I couldn't tell you what species.

It could very well be a wasp or something too, 15mm is rather large.

We need close up Macro photos :).
