Another Bergen County, NJ ID 7/27 (is it even an ant?)

That is a velvet ant wasp(Dasymutilla)(not an ant).

Suburban Backyard, in grass. Time of collection was about 4:30 - 5 PM

Length: approx 7.5mm

brown color

Strange antennae (have a fuzzy appearance toward the second half of them), moves the antennae in a strange way - very fluid movements(which makes me question if it is an ant). Strange looking gaster (not sure if photos capture it well, sort of like a tornado shape. Appears pretty flexible. Bites into the open-end cotton ball, extends hindmost legs above its back/body to brace against test tube.
