Now, not many have had success raising social parasite queens. One speculation is that this is due to their underground lifestyle. Lasius claviger, a common social parasite in my area, is a prime example. Throughout Meadows I often see then after pulling up a weed. They will usually be with many root aphids, their main source of food.
That led me to think as to whether or not that could be replicated in a captive setting. Perhaps plants with aphids could be put in an uncle Milton style any farm with agar gell as the substrate. Then, early on boost the parasite queen with Lasius claviger workers that already tend aphids.
That's one idea on how to solve the issue. What are yours?
