Find out what ants live in your area and look up their nuptial flight Schedule, then wait until it's time for them to fly. Wait until after a heavy rain as the queens won't fly until the ground is soft and moist, they are more likely to fly if it's hot. Look under rocks too, good luck!

There seems to be quite a bit of debate on nuptial flight, as far as I know, check just before AND after a flight, as they fly due to the humidity change not the actual rain itself, humidty obviously can changes before the rain comes, so look out for that, the biggest flight I've witnessed was actually before rain.

Look on footpaths or anything that contrasts nicely with the ants, so it's easier to spot them. And yes, Study your nuptial flights
And prepare for them, even if it means having a test tube or container in your pocket or bag!

Good luck on your queen hunt! Sucks that I am literally on the opposite side of the state than you (NE corner), or I'd offer some of my ants. Doubt you'd want to drive that far for them. XD I know there's a GAN farmer in the Columbus area though.

Ah darn! Yeah not looking to drive all the way to NE Ohio! But currently in contact with that GAN farmer in Columbus to see what options he has! Luckily we have some rain coming on Wednesday and Thursday so going to be out and looking on Friday and this weekend to see if I can get lucky!

Join the discord or check out the new site. The discord has ant sales listing. I used it myself just 2 days ago and drove to pick up.
