1. Location of collection: central new jersey 
2. Date of collection: 7/19/17
3. Habitat of collection: found in a tree farm running on a dirt path 
4. Length: 1/4 inch
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: dark brown blackish
6. Distinguishing characteristics: antenna bends, doesn't look like it has a petiole
7. Distinguishing behavior: was running and sits on cotton doused in water
8. Nest description: N/A

In the future, it would be best if you could provide measurements in millimeters, and as you know, a variety of clear photos from different angles would be optimal.

 

I think this is a Lasius umbratus social parasite.
