I havent used my fluon very much, only a couple times if I were to ID a live ant in an open-top container to take images. from my little experience though, it works great!
I have "fire ants" (invictia) I think, what would I use for them?
Vegetable oil is better than Olive oil, but I voted olive anyway.

When you say a species name, it's italicized not bolded, and you also don't capitalize the species name, just the genus. I think the capitals go for every other word in your sentence as well. Please type in coherent English.

I used to use Extra Virgin olive oil. It always worked fine, but occasionally i'd put too much on. One of the nice things about olive oil is that it's an easy cleanup if you do happen to put too much on. Some of the benefits i enjoyed with olive oil is that i always have it in the kitchen, so i never really ran out. I'd get a new cotton ball, put it on the top of the bottle and give a quick flip. Lightly apply the olive oil the select surfaces and than wipe up with the dry side.
Than i tried some byFormica Fluon. First thing to note is that its very runny, so use it sparingly as it says on the bottle. It works just as good as the olive oil, if not better depending on the surface. The applicator is nice too. Made applying a thin barrier at the top of an outworld really easy, and is always at my disposal. I don't have to use a new cotton ball for every time i want to apply so cleanup is easy as well. Also, it last forever. I've used it on many of my outworlds and deli cups, as well as collection containers and i've barely dented the bottle. Which there's also one pro with fluon over olive oil. I use a barrier in my collection containers, as well as feeding (cricket, roach, mealyworm) cups and fluon prevails over other barriers. Fluon drys, so nothing really sticks to it after. I don't have to worry about a layer of dirt ruining my barrier and only giving my critters a better surface to walk on.

I use peanut oil and that seems to work for me, but I'll look into using olive oil and fluon.
Currently Keeping:
Tetramorium Immigrans
The only barrier that has worked 100% all the time, everytime, is FLUON. I get mine from bioquip.
I've tried everything else listed on here and more, and none of them work 100%. Some of them even drown or kill the ants (like Vaseline).
