My P. imparis queen finally has nanitics! Do you think a very small drop of honey is good enough for food?

All of my small Prenolepis imparis colonies accept Sunburst, when it is soaked on a cotton ball and placed in their tube.

We give our Prenolepis colonies a drop of sugar water with food coloring in it, they love it. The food coloring is optional, only for observational purposes.
To mix, take a shot glass of hot water and mix in white sugar until no more dissolves. Wait until it cools before feeding to your ants. Feed on a partial cotton ball or by putting a drop of it in their tube (we use a syringe to feed them).

Honey should be fine. You may want to add a little water so it's not so sticky, but it will work.

Honey (must be honey water) is fine, however ants tend to prefer sugar water.

So I fed them a cotton ball soaked in sugar water and they loved it! I know this because all of their gasters were very bloated today.

They will need protein in order to fuel the development of the larvae. Try feeding them frozen fruit flies and diced meal worms.

My colonies accept D. hydei freshly killed from my culture.

I have heard a lot of good things about fruit flies, meal worms, and super worms!

Could I feed them meal worms that I froze two weeks ago?
