3. Habitat of collection: Dirt/Gravel off a "Riverfront" trail
4. Length: Don't have a ruler . 1 picture has a size reference. (standard Marlboro Red cigarette)
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: Mostly all black but there are some yellowish hairs at the ends of their gasters.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: So small that I can't even really see, the pictures are under a 20x jewelers loupe.
7. Anything else distinctive: Just super super tiny. Pictures show closeups as well as their nests before they started flying.
8. Nest description: small dirt/gravel mound, pics included.
Small yellow hairs at end of gaster
Nest before flight
Nest with workers crawling on a Marlboro Red to show how tiny they are.
Ant #2
1. Location of collection: Grand Junction, CO
2. Date of collection: 7/12/17 around 7:30 PM
3. Habitat of collection: Dirt/Gravel off a "Riverfront" trail.
4. Length: Don't have a ruler
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: Orangeish but looks browner with yellow strips from underneath.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Almost thought they were Tetra but gaster look too rounded and the heads seem more rounded too.
7. Anything else distinctive: Males and Females are vastly different sizes. I picked most of these up when I saw them fall to the ground "hooked up" and kept them as pairs. Most of the Females have already tore their wings off and some even laid an egg within a few hours of capture.
8. Nest description: Didn't see any nests.

Clearest picture I could get of the Female that really shows her color
