1. Location (on a map) of collection: Southern Ontario, Canada. Found next to a sandpit used for track and field.
2. Date of collection: July 7, 2017
3. Habitat of collection: Sand pit surrounded by running track.

4. Length (from head to gaster): 7mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Red, darker midsection.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: All red.
7. Distinguishing behavior:Kept  N/A

8. Nest description: N/A

 

Is this even a queen?

 

If so, what are its discerning characteristics? (fully claustral? etc.)

Looks like a Lasius parasite though better quality pictures will be helpful.

 

Possibly Lasius interjectus.
