I recently caught four Pogonomyrmex badius queens and placed them in tube set-ups. They all shed their wings prior to being put into the tubes and have even laid eggs. I've given each of them a kind of small seed that I usually see workers carrying back to their nest. Even then, they are all pulling at the cotton plugs at the end of the tubes. Is this species claustral or semi-claustral?
