I love the look of Colobopsis ants, a shame Poland doesn't have any.

Actually, I have good news for you. There is one species of colobopsis found in Poland! C. truncata.

Awesome! Hopefully this colony will get to alates, which would be a first in antkeeping on this journal.


Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies. 

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Actually, I have good news for you. There is one species of colobopsis found in Poland! C. truncata.

 

Technically yes, but its range is limited and even in that range it is very rare, just like Ponera coarctata, Stenamma debile, Myrmecina graminicola, or Dolichoderus quadripunctatus.

There's a saying in Polsih "it's a white raven", which means that something is rare/one of a kind. C. truncata is one such myrmecological white raven here in Poland

Yes, I caught the queens in May of 2020. This is my first journal entry of them.

Terribly sorry, I was referencing TenneseeAnts' post hence the quotation error post. I thought his "Ahem" was him saying that he got a colony to alates.
