Would Camponotus Noveaboricensis be able to live in these?

I would not try to house a wood-nesting species in a dirt nest.

Has anybody had any luck raising wood loving species in these?

I know that the people involved in developing these say no, but I do recall that dspdrew tried adding wood panels with a certain amount of success early in the development thread. I'd be tempted to fashion wooden inserts rather than 'dirt' and see if it works, but then I'm like that! :)

In for one small 10mm. Going to try putting my larger Camponotus colony in it. I know you don't recommend these for Camponotus but from what I can tell, the established colonies where I caught my queens are largely ground dwelling, not even associated with sagebrush as the land has been cleared for development.

Current Colony:

4x Camponotus (hyatti?)

While the Dirt Box formicarium is not recommended for species that nest exclusively in wood, as you mention, some Camponotus species are ground dwelling, and so you shouldn't have any problems with compatibility.

A few large dirt boxes are available on Amazon right now.

These were used as photography models, so the one you will receive will look almost exactly like the photo.

I know dspdrew is making more, but it may be weeks or months before they are available on Amazon again, if they are restocked at all.

Also, if you want the items that are available on Amazon for 12% off the Amazon price, simply contact me here and I can invoice you via PayPal.
