I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread because it is that time of the year, we seem to be getting several new members, and personally I would like some clarification on an ant trap design that I understand fundamentally, but still have questions about. That design is the black light/white sheet method that Drew and several others have recommended as tried and true.

So I understand you drape a white sheet over your car/truck and shine a black light on it. I guess my confusion comes in decided how to drape the sheet. Do you simply let the sheet hang loose on the side/bed of your vehicle and shine the light on it, or do you pitch a half tent and shine the black light up on the bottom of the sheet (see below). If you do this method, do the ants land on the inside or outside of the sheet?

I am definitely over complicating this but every time I think I should try black lighting these questions come up. Also I hope you enjoy me awesome paint skills.

Post any other suggestions for easy traps down below if you want to share.

Just today I managed to capture multiple Tetramorium alates by filling a tub with water and letting it sit overnight.

I've convinced my wife we need to buy a plastic kiddie pool so our dog can splash around when its hot, but actually

Just today I managed to capture multiple Tetramorium alates by filling a tub with water and letting it sit overnight.

this is the real reason.
