Hello everyone,
Wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm fairly new to the hobby, in fact I don't currently have any kind of setup, but I figured this would be a good place to learn before taking the next step. I like most creatures big and small, but I've always been interested in hive/colony insects; ants, bees, termites and what have you. I'm tucked away up in Washington state, a little south of Seattle. Looking forward to interacting with everyone.

A lot of people finding Formica obscuripe queens where you live! Good luck in the hobby!
Just a little boy that likes ants. I try my best to be mature and competent.
My Colonies
Camponotus floridanus
Crematogaster pinicola

Thank you Aqua and super-oil. I feel like I've learned more about ants in the last week than I have in my adult life lol. I believe Formica obscuripe are what I called wood ants as a kid. Relatively big ant hills.

Welcome! Just north of you in Victoria, Canada. Keep your eyes out for queens this weekend - looks like there is going to be some hot weather after some rain on Thurs., perfect conditions for nuptial flights!!

For those living on the west side, I've caught 4 tetramorium queens in the last five days. It seems like they be having their nuptial flights now.

I don't think they are here this far north (Victoria, Canada).
