Found her today, about 7mm. She is all black, but her thorax and head are a lighter shade. If in bright enough light her thorax and head look kind of redish.

1. Location of collection: Rhode Island
2. Date of collection: 6/10/17
3. Habitat of collection: road
4. Length (from head to gaster): 7mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: black, kind of shiny
6. Distinguishing characteristics: none
7. Distinguishing behavior: very active
8. Nest description: unknown

A Lasius umbratus queen that flew last year, and is seeking a host colony.

Really? She looks smaller than the other umbratus queens I have found.

Ok thanks, but if you don't mind could you please tell me what species are compatible? I read that they need to be from the niger group but I am unsure which ants that includes.

That would be Lasius neoniger, Lasius alienus, or Lasius pallitarsis. However flavus-group has been used in introduction which includes Lasius flavus and Lasius nearcticus.
