I know there was a guy in Valparaiso that I bought a Tetramorium queen from. He doesn't seem to be selling any more, though. I plan on becoming a GAN farmer as soon as I can.

Yep I wouldn't advise it either. If I end up getting extra queens I'll be glad to help you out, but my luck with finding queens at the moment is pretty bad. I only seem to be finding socially parasitic queens. :(

@Martialis I don't see him listed on the GAN page, is he registered on it?

No need to worry I would not start simply breaking moral laws and guidelines just to get a queen. I like everyone here and the rules are for a reason. Ya I see some Texas ants I love but its not going to happen and the ants in Indiana are cool also. :)

It's best to just move on. Indiana has an excellent diversity of ants, including some leafcutters in the southern portion.

I say southern.. I mean more sandy soils below the latitude of Long Island, NY.  They also are more just fungus farming versus leaf cutting.

Right! Trachymrymex isn't so much of a "leafcutter" as a "caterpillar poop gatherer". :D

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

Black lives still matter.

With temps in the 40's and rain everyday here in north west Indiana its still impossible to find anything. If we could get a nice day or two that would help. But if anyone in Indiana has any Queens I'm still liking.

I expect to have a fairly moderately sized Tapinoma colony ready to sell soon. This species mates in nest and the workers in the colony have quite a bit of reproductive pupae.

I'm not sure if you've seen my most recent topic (Although you probably have), I'm selling a Tapinoma colony with around 40 workers. I'll have their price fairly soon.

Hey there! I am also looking for queen ants in Indiana, but I think I found four today. :) I need to help in confirming this, and so if you know someone who can help me then I would be grateful!! I did see one ant that was doing something with it's anal area though.

Well, here I am again - I can now sell you ants. Currently I have Stennama (sort of like a miniature Myrmica) and Tapinoma sessile for sale.
