I have a scorpion in a dirt set-up in a 10 gallon tank that I've noticed has gotten mites.  Does anyone know if these are good/bad?  There is a mealworm beetle in the cage that is covered in these mites.

If you know anything or have any suggestions let me know - I plan on putting the tank on a plastic board and spraying it with long lasting bug killer so they at least won't leave the tank area.

Mites are inevitable in any enclosure that can support the life of another insect, save for those that can live in bone dry conditions. Apart from the very rare occasional parasitic species, the majority of mites one encounters are harmless. Simply keep enclosures relatively clean to avoid population outbreaks, which can be stressful to any animal that has to endure thousands of creatures crawling over themselves.

Only use the marketed mite papers and sprays, anything else is an absolute no-no for invertebrates.
