I can't find these at both stores I looked at. Not on the website either... Anyone know if they have been discontinued?

Looks like discontinued or temporarily out of stock.  I had 20 (2x10) arrive today that I ordered on Monday.  When I log on and try to click "reorder" it can't find them.

They do come in/out of stock periodically, and pull the part number when they have run out in the past.

I'll be honest, after using these vs the boxbox pencil containers ($3.99), I prefer the Boxbox ones.  I find these pencil boxes are a PITA to open without disturbing the ants, and if you add any sort of medium like hydrostone to the bottom, you have to notch out the area so it doesn't get any medium or it's impossible to open.  They also aren't easily stackable.  That being said, they do have the nice small size going for them and cheap when in stock.

This is the container I am referring to:

Yeah, the person at one of the daisos said that they have them mostly I the beginning of the school year, i.e August and September. The rest that we have been getting is probably leftovers in the warehouse.

I really hope they aren't discontinued, boxbox containers aren't as cheap...

So I called them a couple days ago, and apparently the whole US is out of stock, but they have ordered them from Japan. It'll be at least a month before they are back.

The problem with publicly showing how you make things is that everyone goes out and buys it all.

Talkin' to you, Soul!

Should make another thread on how these are made. These containers are everywhere and don't go out of stock. Also, check out my fugly feet.

What is the diameter of the containers you're using for the tower thing.

Does mean that they are going to be back in stock soon? I really need a foraging container, I'm not even going to try unplugging the cotton of my C. fragilis as there are workers constantly pulling on the cotton and the go crazy when I pull it out.

You know you can use any container that fits test tubes, right? Go to container store and find something. You don't have to use those pencil case ones.

I made a similar set up using one of those larger, hinged pencil boxes you find in every school supplies sections of groceries and walmart. The lid is a little loose, but it overlaps with the bottom, so I just secure it with rubber bands. Also the foraging area is larger so it is easier to clean, although I can see where the larger size could be a drawback if you have a lot of them.

I would but I'm an hour away and shipping is $15+.

Is that a test tube around the cotton leading from the hydration chamber? I've been considering adding a glue-gunned barrier around my cotton so the substrate doesn't get soaked because I havent found a place to get large vinyl tubing yet.
