Heya, my AntCanada Omni vertical small arrived today.

 

I've taken some pictures to show you. Unfortunately, due to me not having any antkeeping experience (yet), I am unable to review it.

I've purchased two queens with workers from Crystals, so hopefully, I will start a colony soon. Meanwhile, my two Lasius are hibernating in my fridge.

 

 

 

The package arrived safely. The contents were fully protected very tightly. No item was scratched or anything.

 

 

The ant house came assembled. The outworld I have to assemble however.

 

 

 

 

It took me half an hour to peel off all the paper from the plastic. I had to soak it in warm water for a minute.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tubing the two is also an option and the package does come with a short tube.

 

 

 

I've also purchased more lab glassware and equipment.

Awesome. Omninest really does look like a neat formicarium just because of all you can observe within a colony.

 

I was thinking about buying a formicarium from AntsCanada, but after looking at Tarheel Ants formicaria I think I'm going with one of his. 

 

Let us know how your ants do once you move them into their new home.

Nice. I like when people post lots of photos of products. Even if you can't make much of a review, the pictures say a lot.

I think I'd prefer these over Tarheel's formicaria for their ease of viewing and the fact that nests can be taken apart completely and cleaned. That and chambers can be blocked off without disturbing the ants.

The chambers can be blocked from what I can see. And it can be taken apart easily.

I like the more natural looking formicaria, personally. If I had it my way I would just fill up a tub with dirt and let the ants go crazy, but it would be hard for me to control humidity that way. I wouldn't know when and how much to water them. I tried this a couple years ago when I really didn't know what I was doing and the queens dried up within a week.

I would personally like a big aquarium with good amount of soil in it, but as I don't have any experience in ant keeping, I need to study them first. And I felt that Omni nest offered one of better ways to observe and study them.

 

I plan to build my own once I have enough know-how and, hopefully in progress, I will capture more queens.

This taught me things about the omni nest vertical, so when i buy it i won't be completely clueless on what to do, thank you for posting this
