Yeah, I don't think I looked on the trees at all. I looked all over the floor though until my girlfriend was sure a bear was gonna pop out of nowhere and eat us and this was the only queen we found. I was kind of expecting to find other queens but looks like they didn't fly last weekend.
I'd say that's C. essigi too.
Looks like all the large Camponotus are done flying up there now. There might still be some later flights in higher elevations.
