I have a young colony of Veromessor Pergandei with 12 workers. I've noticed lately that there doesn't seem to be any new eggs and the existing brood are not growing much if at all. The larvae have been around for a while now and haven't become pupae. I've heard that heating a colony can help to speed up brood development so I'm considering getting a heating cable. I'm hoping someone can tell me if this might help or if something else seems wrong. If a heating cable is the answer, what brands do you suggest?

Determining the reason why your queen is not laying and brood are not growing should be a process of elimination.  The heating cable will only help if suboptimal temperatures are the only or most significant problem.

That said, heating cables are a highly recommended tool to have in the hobbyist antkeeper's arsenal.
