This is my first post. Purchased two formicarium and tubes to raise queen but have been looking for a while for queens. Today was the day I think. Found 8 in total. If you know the species and if they need food from the start let me know. See pics and info below
1. Location of collection: Victoria, BC, Canada- Kinsman Park(Victoria) and Rom Knott Park( brentwood bay)
2. Date of collection: May 22nd(Found queens on ground but heard they were flying on the 21st as well.
3. Habitat of collection: Rom Knott Park- glass baseball and trended urban park. Kinsman Park in the lightly wooded area by stream, mainly on wood chip trail. Humidity 60% and 22-25 Degrees Celsius, 1pm at Rom Park and 6pm at Kinsman.
4. Length (from head to gaster):Aprox 20mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black on all three body segments. Wings gold/yellow when present. Little to no hair.
6. Distinguishing behaviour: None in particular. Most were wingless with wing scares. One had wings. And wood in large natural grass and small fir forest.
7. Nest description: Did not see nest
