Disclaimer!

The Off topic discussion sub-forum was created for people to discuss other things aside from ants. So, this is a fitting topic for this sub-forum along with other similar threads like the "clean jokes" thread that also reside within this sub-forum. The author of this thread cannot be held responsible for the following replies. This thread shall remain in off topic so everyone can participate due to the fact many don't post in the sandbox. However any kiddie, immature, or senseless replies will result in a move to sandbox.

I will start.

Ok, so in my family there was three people with the same name. And when I say the same name, they had the same first and last name and all three where males around the same age. One of these guys happened to be my father. Now two of those people had passed away. One from a motorcycle accident and the other one I believe from cancer. I don't remember the exact details  However both of those times, the phone was ringing off the hook with peoples apologizes and showing their respect. People brought flowers and everything both times. Kind of odd when people bring you stuff, and your like..."yeah, thanks... but he isn't dead" But the funniest of all was one night about a year after the last accident my dad went into a bowling alley that his old friend he knew owned. He walks in and there is his old friend sitting in a chair reading the paper. Now we were just going bowling. We didn't think he thought my dad was dead. My dad says "Hey!" He looked up, almost fell out of his chair and his eyes almost popped out of his head. "I THOUGHT YOU WHERE DEAD!" My dad just laughed and replied, "yeah, thanks for coming to the funeral."

Not my best story, but we will get there.

So one day, I let out my dog and 15 minutes later, brought her back in. She went upstairs and my mom saw something in her mouth. my mom yelled at her, which scared her, and then she dropped it, it was a rabbit. The rabbit was obviously scarred for (his or her short) life and startled, so it hopped right through the railings on the hallway and had a 25-40 ft fall onto a hardwood floor. So the whole family stared at it for around 30 minutes and then someone saw it move. My dad got a dust pan, scooped it up, and put it in our neighbor's yard. When we were walking into the our house, we saw a hawk swoop down and grab the rabbit. YAY! The circle of life.

It's funny on some sites stuff starts out in a Sandbox then gets either it's own area or moved to a more appropriate area. But not here.....

I once dropped a nickel in the woods (in one of my pockets) and lost it in the leaf litter. A few minutes later, I saw a raven pick it up and start playing with it. It then dropped it down the abandoned yellow jacket nest. I pulled it out, only to find a hibernating wasp queen clinging to my hand.

That's scary!! Antkeeping made me love ants but to this day I am terrified of wasps, and most other insects for that matter. Oh and once a parrot landed on my mom's head I'm a park in the middle of a city many years ago... We dropped it off at the humane society

Glad the parrot had a chance to reach a new home :)
It might have even been a Monk Parakeet, they can survive in cold temperatures/cities.

In truth, that experience was good for me! I was trying to collect more yellow jacket queens for my collection.
