I wouldn't think.

Why not test it ?
#64 Offline - Posted October 11 2014 - 11:03 PM
Hell no. My fungus is too fragile right now as it is.
#65 Offline - Posted October 11 2014 - 11:26 PM
how big are the queens ?
#66 Offline - Posted October 11 2014 - 11:28 PM
I expected smaller, they are a lot smaller than say, Atta. They are a little larger than a Pogonomyrmex subnitidus queen I think?

how large is the fungus ?
#68 Offline - Posted October 11 2014 - 11:33 PM
Half a BB'? I do not know. Maybe a bit smaller than her gaster.
#69 Offline - Posted October 11 2014 - 11:35 PM
update on them ?
#70 Offline - Posted October 11 2014 - 11:41 PM
Um, haha funny, in the last nine hours, I have replied to this thread EIGHT times! That's an update enough, also including the fact that they have been being updated the last four days in a row. 370 out of your ~400 posts on Formiculture are useless posts like that.

Well, right now the fungus does not look 100% healthy, but she continues to tend to it. I have fixed the issue why it may not be as healthy as can be.

The fungus is healthy again, but now the single non-reject queen is dying!!!

Once she's gone you'll have to wait till next year's flight eh?

I have 2 more queens, but they are both rejects.
#76 Offline - Posted October 13 2014 - 7:13 PM
i thought you had four
#77 Offline - Posted October 13 2014 - 7:44 PM
With recent deaths I only have two. But the replacement queen seems to have taken the fungus. Fingers crossed!
And she has stuck it right onto the wet cotton! PERFECT!!!

what are you doing to these queens... they're dying left and right!
#79 Offline - Posted October 13 2014 - 8:29 PM
This species is possible the hardest to keep in California. I have had six queens, this species is VERY fond of just giving up and dying. As much as I know, once the queen gets workers, it is easy after that, but until then, the success rate is really, really bad.

how can you tell when the fungus is bad
