I am building a new formicarium for my Solenopsis Xyloni. As they are escape artists, I opted to test the new setup by placing a about 20+ worker in it to test the effectiveness of the countermeasures. I gave them most of yesterday and overnight. To my dismay this morning most of them have curled up and died. Is this simply what they do when unable to reconnect with their colony or should I be concerned about some toxic explanation. At this time the setup is only a hydrostone nest, a sandblasted piece of driftwood and a glass aquarium.
