  Hey guys so my dad and I just caught 7 workers and tons of brood from a about 100 worker Camponotus planatus colony in my back yard. The ants moved in with all the brood to my tarheelants founding formicaria "Talus" in just under an hour. I'm trying to see what kinds of protein food they will eat so I bought some meal worms but they don't seem to be much interested in them and just left them alone. They did drink some maple syrup I gave them and now I am trying to see if they will drink the honey. I'm gonna get some crickets soon to see if they'll eat those and maybe fruit flies. Does anyone know what to feed them I really want them to survive.

Well unless you got a queen, they will die out in a few months. Feed them sugar water or maple syrup for sugar, and assorted insects for protein. I hear Camponotus like "crispy" insects like crickets a lot.

I'd go back and get as many of the workers as possible. They'll die eventually if left behind like that

You only grabbed seven workers out of 100?! Go back and get the rest!!!

 

Those seven workers have jobs, and it is possible none of them are caring for the queen.

 

EDIT: They are not eating probably because they are stressed out. Give them time to settle. You need more workers though.
