awesome video dude, keep making these!
Looks nice but why does the Colony have mites?
AgreedHaha, when you had us watch it earlier did you ever say turn your volume on? Know that I did, I actually kind of enjoyed it. I want more!

All my colonies are dead.
Except:
Pogonomyrmex barbatus
Pheidole obscurithorax
Pheidole morens

It looks like a mite, but its actually a springtail. There was a small culture in the nest and they babies would occasionally crawl across the queen, brood, etc

Uh pretty sure those are mites everywhere.
They're on the ants legs and usually sucking their blood from there.

Yes, this colony has a very serious mite infestation.

xZero, I'm sorry i doubted you.
Thought you guys were talking about this springtail that ran across the queen during the video.
Awesome video!!! Can't wait for my Crematogaster queens to start producing workers.
I love it!
what's the difference between those flies and melanogaster?

D. Hydei are a bit larger than D. Melanogaster, other than that they're about the same
and yeah I agree, that is a nasty mite infection. Maybe put a little bit of tree resin in the outworld, I heard that has anti-mite properties. Their legs and antennae are covered in the little white dots.

RIP Flies...
Also, Crematogaster are awesome. I hope to catch a few when I move to Connecticut!
I love it!

Yah, thank you. I don't know why this is being pointed out now, a year after the video was shot and published to this site, and youtube. The entire time i was told about the mites, i always...ALWAYS..thought they were talking about the springtail in the video. I've seen mites before, and this problem should have been caught by me (i'm feeling extremely noobish due to this), just didn't realize what those were. This was my only Crematogaster colony at the time, so i assumed their leg shape was just their leg shape.
Time to buy a better lens
at least you didn't post "OMG My colony has MITEs THEY"RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" (like, subscribe, and don't forget to hit that bell icon!)
