Body:
1. My backyard, Randolph Mass

2. 4/28/17
3. Near oak forest
4. 3 mm
5. Orange, some dark coloration on gaster. 
6. Two petiole nodes. Spine on thorax present 
7. Crawling along small branch 
8. No nest

Looks very much like Temnothorax ambigus or Temnothorax curvispinosus. Try getting a close picture of the top of the mesosoma, showing both propodeal spines.

The dark spots on the gaster of the top worker in the pictures looks particularly like Temnathorax curvispinosus, I agree with Natholf, try to get some closer shots.
