Hello,

I want to start a colony of ants.  I live in the greater Sacramento area of California.  I'll start with premade out world and nest, any suggestions?   Any suggestions for species of queen from the GAN queen list?

Thanks for any help.

You can build your own formicarium and outworld relatively easily. Sourcing good containers to use is the hardest part. Though if you look in the stickies there is a link to a great container for the foundation of an outworld.

Otherwise if you are willing to spend some $$ there are plenty of good set ups available from the vendors on this site.

As for ants, I like camponotus because they are large and pretty easy to find in California.
