1. Location of collection: She was found running across our back porch in Virginia Beach, VA around 2:30pm we have a decent number of trees and plants in our backyard

2. Date of collection: May 12th 2017

3. Habitat of collection: suburban backyard running across the porch

4. Length: She is 25mm long

5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: She has a black head and her thorax is black on top fading into a dark red underneath. Her legs start as dark red and fade to black and her gaster starts as dark red where it connects to the thorax and fades to black on the tip.

definitely Camponotus but to specific, I think it is Camponotus Ligniperda.

They're flying in SC too. I found a queen of this species wandering my kitchen a week ago.
