Hey there all. Like all of you, I'm interested in ant-keeping, and my current wish is to catch a Camponotus pennsylvanicus queen. As the weather in this area is finally reaching a point where nuptial flights are more likely in ant species, I decided to get ready to look for said queens. As it happens, though, I live in one of the major cities in northern NJ, so I'm not entirely sure where to begin my search. Sure, I know that I want to look in wooded areas, particularly around rotted stumps/logs/etc., but I feel my options are limited without taking a bit of a drive elsewhere. While I'm not against that, I'm hoping to get some sort of direction from others. As such, I'm wondering if there is anyone on this here forum who is familiar with NJ and can possibly point me in the right direction in terms of a concrete area in which to search. I realize that's asking quite a bit of people, but I figure it can't really hurt to ask, right? Anyway, thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide, and good luck in seeking out the ants you all wish for!
