How do you even feed these guys when they're in a test tube? They're so frantic I don't see how one would do it.

I don't. I only put them in a test tube when someone wants to buy them in a test tube. I won't even sell more than 20 in a test tube, because it's too hard to even get them in there.

Journals pretty interesting, I’m getting a new Camponotus Fragilis colony soon. Now I can sort of imagine what I will be keeping.

Good luck with them. (y) They do well in heat, and do well in test tube setups. They don’t need hibernation, unlike some Camponotus species.

Update 6-13-2019

I only have one large colony of these now, and it's doing great. I counted about 500 or so workers.

Those majors are huge! I thought this was some weird polygynous colony at first.

Wow 500 workers. Do we know what the typical wild colony size is?

Looks like you can use majors to tell absquatulator apart from fragillis, too.  The absquatulator colony i know of has huge majors almost the same size as those weird ocreatus lookalikes that are arboreal
